About Redwood City - Redwood City is the county seat of San Mateo County, California. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 75,402. It is one of the cities that make up Silicon Valley.

Redwood City's main street is known as Broadway, although it also has an actual Main Street, which Broadway intersects. On Broadway, at the western and eastern entrances to the city's downtown, there are arches over the roadway emblazoned with the city's name and the slogan, "Climate Best By Government Test."

The average household size is 2.62 and the average family size is 3.20.

In the city the population is spread out with 23.2% under the age of 18, 8.4% from 18 to 24, 37.4% from 25 to 44, 20.9% from 45 to 64, and 10.2% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 35 years. For every 100 females there are 101.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 100.4 males.

The median income for a household in the city is $66,748, and the median income for a family is $73,798. Males have a median income of $50,345 versus $41,125 for females. The per capita income for the city is $34,042. 6.0% of the population and 3.9% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 6.3% of those under the age of 18 and 6.3% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
